On Wednesday, August 4, 1999, in Venice, Italy, about 600 people from all over the world boarded the Cunard Vistafjord. A week later they would all be in a shadow on the Black Sea directly under the new moon which itself was directly under the sun. This alignment... one third planned and two thirds inevitable, was the last total solar eclipse of the Twentieth Century. The following presentation is a photographic record of the voyage into the shadow of the moon and of the ports visited on the way there and on the way back.
