[IMAGE] March 30, 2001: Active Region 9393. This is one of the largest sunspot groups ever seen on the sun, and it was responsible for one of the most intense solar flares ever recorded.

[IMAGE] April 24, 2001: A close-up of 9433, which is  really 9393 on its second time around the sun.
All images were taken by Joel Seligmann on the Questar 7. Digital images made with an Olympus 2020Z, using eyepiece projection.
